Do Not Spend Tomorrow's Pain Today
There are difficult things worth preparing for.
Medical results. Hard conversations. Financial uncertainty. A child moving away. A decision you know may disappoint someone.
Preparation asks: what can I do?
Anxiety often asks: how many times can I emotionally experience the worst outcome before it happens?
The distinction is worth learning.
Make the appointment. Gather the documents. Write down the questions. Decide whom you will call. Those are acts of care.
Then notice when planning ends and rehearsed suffering begins.
You cannot make tomorrow less painful by exhausting yourself today.
If the difficult thing comes, you will meet it with whatever strength, help, information, and grace are available then.
Do not require present-you to survive an event that has not happened yet.
