The Day After You Embarrass Yourself
You said too much. You tripped over the introduction. You sent the message. You made the joke that landed with a small, terrible silence.
Then you went home and began the replay.
Embarrassment has a peculiar camera angle. It places us in the center of the frame and imagines everyone else studying the footage.
They usually are not.
Other people are busy replaying their own awkward sentences, worrying about their own faces, and wondering whether anyone noticed the thing they did.
If you owe an apology, make one. If you made a mistake that can be repaired, repair it.
Then resist turning a human-sized error into a permanent identity.
Confidence is not never looking foolish. It is learning that foolishness is survivable.
Tomorrow, walk back into the room as though you are still allowed to be there.
You are.
