The Text You Shouldn’t Send
Sometimes silence is not a game. It is information.
If you have rewritten the message five times, it may not be a message anymore. It may be an attempt to control the answer.
Put the phone down for an hour.
Not to make them miss you. Not to make yourself mysterious. Just long enough to separate what you need to say from what you hope they will say back.
Then ask yourself one question: if there were no reply at all, would I still be glad I sent this?
If the answer is yes, send it. If the answer is no, you were probably asking the message to do a job it cannot do.
