You Are Allowed to Change Your Mind
You said yes last year. You defended the plan. You told everyone this was what you wanted.
Now it is not.
That can be embarrassing because changing direction creates witnesses. Someone will remember how certain you sounded. Someone may enjoy pointing out the contradiction.
Let them.
A decision can be reasonable when made and wrong for the person you later become. New information arrives. Priorities move. Sometimes you simply learn yourself better.
Changing your mind does not automatically mean you were foolish before. It may mean you are paying attention now.
Of course, other people are allowed to be affected by your change. Commitments have consequences. Handle those honestly.
But do not remain in a life merely because you once gave an excellent speech about why you chose it.
Past-you was allowed to decide. Present-you is allowed to review the decision.
