You are allowed to help someone and still notice that they only seem to remember you when something is broken.

Kindness does not require selective amnesia.

The next time they call, you do not need to punish them. Just stop automatically volunteering more than they asked for.

Give the relationship enough room to reveal whether there is anything in it besides rescue.
